On Monday, Vogue rolled out the third of its four January 2021 covers, starring Paloma Elsesser in a Micheal Kors Collection dress, photographed by Annie Leibovitz. Speaking with Janelle Okwodu, the model discusses challenging the fashion community to do better and inspiring a new generation. The issue will be available on newsstands on Dec. 22.

Tia Adeola debuts Spring 2021 collection alongside “Black is Beautiful” film

The film, which you can watch below, reimagines Sofia Coppola’s “Marie Antoinette” with an all-Black female cast. Adeola came up with the concept for the film and renowned director Nina Meredith brought her vision to life. {Fashionista inbox}

Vogue Values 2021 Paloma Elsesser

Paloma Elsesser is the true embodiment of a trailblazer. Having conquered NYC, Paloma went global. Today, she holds an esteemed role within the CFDA and appears season after season on top runways. Her latest achievement is yet another historic season at Milan Fashion Week, which closed its Spring/Summer 2021 season on September 28.

In fact, for Paloma, they made the occasion a far more welcoming and relaxed one.

A calmer environment meant Paloma could more confidently bring her personality to the runway. Fendi particularly stands out to Paloma as a fashion house that is practicing what they now preach. “I feel reflected in what I’m seeing,” she explains, noting the body diversity both on the runways and behind the scenes at the brand. “There’s a spectrum of bodies at work who are on the tailoring team, who are doing styling. It’s very comforting because when I see that, I believe they’re dedicated to [this conversation].”

Having that diversity across the board is not only beneficial in terms of representation, but in creating a truly effective and inclusive product.

This season, Paloma went on to walk for Ferragamo. On Instagram, she announced it was the first time the brand has used a curve model; an enormous feat for any fashion hopeful, regardless of size. She also rallied around Precious Lee and Alva Claire, two fellow IMG Models who made history as the first curve women to walk for Versace. The three close friends spent time together in Milan discussing the significance of this season, and that camaraderie is something Paloma holds deep in her heart.

While size diversity has become far more common at New York Fashion Week, the European markets have shown a significant amount of progress over the past few seasons, largely thanks to Paloma and her fellow IMG models.

“It’s a lie [that plus-size women won’t shop luxury]. They’re already accessing the luxury. They’re buying shoes and handbags. And handbags are three times as much as trousers or a sweater… We’re showing that shows can take center not only in reality but also in fantasy. We also look amazing in the clothes, and we also know how to command a runway,” Paloma asserts.

Hautelemode : Fashion Critic Reacts to Tik Tok Front Row Fashion Challenge (Part 2)

You all enjoyed me reacting to these Tik Tok Front Row videos that were super fun! I didn’t really expect a response like we got, but here is a part 2 that I filmed because there were so many good videos that I couldn’t ignore! There were so many lovely smaller fashion brands involved in this video as well like Anna Sui, Rodarte, & Alyx just to name a few, which definitely spiced it up!

Fashion Critics Reviews Spring 2021 Haute Couture (Dior, Iris Van Herpen, & Schiaparelli)

The second Haute Couture season during the Covid-19 pandemic is here and we have a lot to discuss! This is only the 1st of a 3 part series this week, so stay tuned! We first discuss Daniel Roseberry’s Schiaparelli and his take on trying to redefine Couture. From references to Elsa Schiaparelli herself & Yves Saint Laurent, there was a lot to discuss! Iris Van Herpen returned to present a full collection after a semi-season off. Her “Roots of Rebirth” collection focused on fungi as the inspiration but reinforced classics in a smart yet reassuring way. And of course, Maria Grazia Chiuri’s Dior, which took on Christian Dior’s love of tarot cards. The Visconti-Sforza deck from the 15th century was this season’s inspiration, which allowed Maria Grazia to dig into her Italian roots, and well I don’t mind it too much.

We Need To Talk About Kamala Harris’ Vogue Covers

We Need To Talk About Kamala Harris' Vogue Covers

We Need To Talk About Kamala Harris’ Vogue Covers

Kamala Harris has become many firsts for the United States. First Female Vice President, first Black Vice President, first South-Asian Vice President, and now first Vice President to appear on the cover or covers of American Vogue. The covers have become quite controversial though, as it’s been reported Anna Wintour & Vogue changed the intended cover the Harris’ team expected. Twitter, Instagram, the Washington Post were alight with comments and opinions on the cover. I want to break down the covers, the designers involved, the history of FLOTUS on the cover, and how we shouldn’t expect all that much fashion from Kamala just because she’s a woman!
